It's purportedly a wrist-mounted camera for extreme sports such as snowboarding. The GoPro Digital Hero 3 is a cool idea for a camera, but in action, it simply isn't very good. It's a sluggish performer and shoots soft, small images. That said, the wrist-mounted, underwater housing is a great boon, and it might prove a fun, inexpensive alternative to swimmers and other water-dwellers who want a camera they can submerge." .

Daily Camera op-ed, Post article, and Gazette and Daily Sentinel ...

Summary: Colorado newspapers continued to uncritically report false or misleading statements regarding the potential impact of House Bill 1072 on Colorado businesses. Colorado Media Matters repeatedly has noted the unsubstantiated nature of the claims that the bill would make it "easier for unions to organize" or harm the state's economy. In opinion pieces and in a news story in their February 4 and February 5 editions, the Boulder Daily Camera, The Gazette of Colorado Springs, The Daily Sentinel of Grand Junction, and The Denver Post continued the trend of advancing false, misleading, or unsubstantiated claims made by the opponents of House Bill 1072. Among these are assertions that the bill would create so-called "closed shops," make it "easier" for unions to organize, and hurt Colorado's economy.

WaveridersGallery.com Debuts with Fine Surf Art and Photography

WaveridersGallery.com, a site devoted to promoting artists and photographers who celebrate the simple act of waveriding, has debuted with an extensive collection of signed, limited-edition offerings. Dean stood in a courtroom in Evansville, Ind. last July and told a judge he had fatally beaten a man after breaking into his home in December 2005. Only a handful of spectators were in the courtroom that morning to witness the proceedings. But thanks to a recently enacted Indiana law, citizens throughout the Evansville area were able to watch and listen to Deans account of the brutal attack. The law, adopted last year, permits Indiana newspapers and television stations to cover certain court proceedings using video and still cameras. Cameras from an Evansville TV station were on hand to cover the plea proceeding, and the prosecutor in the case said he was glad they were there. The more the public knows about how we do our jobs, the better off we all are in government, said Vanderburgh (Ind.) County Prosecutor Stan Levco.

Crumpler 2 Million Dollar Home Camera Bag Review

Review: "This is our second review of a Crumpler bag today. The "2 Million Dollar Home" as Crumpler calls it (?) is the right size to fit most large point & shoot, ultra zoom, and compact digital SLR camera models. The case features a large front pocket for accessories and a smaller mesh-lined pocket inside the top flap. Both pockets are hidden from view when the cover of the case is down. This Crumpler camera bag looks like a scaled down version of their messenger bags, yet larger than "The Bundle" version that we also reviewed today. It is stylish and affordable but is it the right case for you? Read our review to find out." .

CASIO Digital Color Camera Wrist Watch Bundled with Image Transfer Kit. But if you're from one of those ghastly regions where the humidity will melt the headliner out of your car and turn your sun porch into a sauna, you know what we're talking about. Moisture trapped inside a camera can provide a healthy environment for foul fungus to grow, causing cloudiness and veiny patterns to form in the lens. The best way to deal with lens fungus is to prevent it from taking hold, but even if it does creep in, your optics aren't necessarily doomed. 1. An ounce of prevention. Don't leave your camera sitting in a camera bag when you're not out shooting. Store it in a cool, dry place. To some, however, there are the overtones of a Big Brother government spying on them. The plan to put surveillance cameras at the entrance to the commons areas at North and South high schools and at the entrance to Cleveland Elementary School fall into the category of ensuring safety. The commons areas at the two high schools are recent additions that aren't covered by existing camera surveillance. Just the increased traffic from public use of the new fitness centers and field houses requires greater diligence. Also, the commons areas are the new main entrances to the two schools. At Cleveland, the school entrance is a considerable distance from the main office, making it hard for school personnel to monitor who's coming into the building.

Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z700 Digital Camera Review

Casio have produced many digital cameras just recently, which fit into their digital compact range being, the Exilim Card or Exilim Zoom. The cameras, which are expected to start rolling by the spring, are the first step in a journey that will eventually allow viewers to watch the proceedings inside all the province's courtrooms, Bryant said. "I think it is inevitable that we are going to have cameras and radio broadcasts in the courtrooms of our nation so that everybody can see what the public moments of our justice system are," Bryant said. The cameras would make Ontario the first province to televise Appeals Court proceedings. The province will examine the Appeals Court experiment before deciding whether to legislate the use of cameras in all Ontario courtrooms, although Bryant was quick to add they likely won't televise certain proceedings, such as witness testimony.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 Digital Camera Review

The FX01 shares most of its internal components with the FX3, and in many ways the two cameras are almost identical. The both have the same 1/2.5in CCD, 6.37 megapixels (6.0MP effective) CCD sensor, the same 2.5in, 207k pixel TFT high-angle LCD monitor, and identical control layouts. The body designs are slightly different though, with the FX01 having a more rounded shape, and less of the Leica-esque 1930s retro look. Personally I prefer the appearance of the FX01, in fact I d go as far as to say I think its one of the most attractively styled cameras on the market. ..With its wide angle lens and optical image stabilisation the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 stands out from the crowd of virtually identical 6-megapixel 3x zoom ultra-compacts. "It's been a labor of love," said Carlos Rodriguez, owner of The Box, Douglas' only cinema. "We had so many people come in and volunteer their time." For the first two months after he bought the empty Douglas Cinema, a two-story brick building with two movie screens, Rodriquez and two others toiled long hours in repairing the interior and exterior of the building. And it was no easy task. First of all, there weren't enough seats, so they had to buy extra rows of seats and install them. They also remodeled the front exterior of the building, replaced poster windows and relocated the ticket both.

Photography exhibition

A red letter day in the history of the world art movement: quite possibly the first ever photography exhibition in Dhaka featuring a Welsh snapper, together with Elizabeth Bass from Russia and Mustafa Faroque Wahid from Bangladesh. The family's high tech security system caught the man on tape. He even looked directly into one of the cameras. Police say he then pulled up shirt and started using a crack pipe before breaking in. The twin girls who share the room the man entered both awoke and started screaming for their father. He said by the time he ran outside, the man was gone. Kevin Giordanao told Channel 9 his son installed the surveillance cameras about a year ago to target neighborhood vandals. South Daytona Police said they were unable to locate the burglar, despite using K-9 units and a helicopter, but that the pictures of the man will go a long way in catching him.

Olympus Stylus 750 Digital Camera Review

The Olympus Stylus 750 was one of four new cameras added to Olympus' weatherproof Stylus line back in August (the others were the 730, 740, and 1000). It has a 7.1 megapixel capture resolution, a 5x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and a 2.5 inch LCD. "Digital SLRs are now cheaper, smaller and take better pictures," Wakaume said after visiting her local electronics store. Digital SLRs -- single-lens reflex cameras that enable consumers to see images exactly as they will be captured -- are all the rage. Northtown Motors and Auto Clearing Ltd. don't think they should have to pay for tickets incurred by customers who run the red light at Avenue C and Circle Drive while test driving vehicles. The two businesses are supported by six other dealerships, which are pitching in to help pay for the cost of the legal challenge, said Northtown owner Laurie Bradley. "I don't argue with the cameras because they solved a problem, but there are some serious loose ends," he said. "We're eating the cost because we can't hire a lawyer and sue a customer for $220 bucks." The 6.3 megapixel camera is loosely based on the previous S5200 model and includes a 10.7x optical zoom lens and 2.5 inch LCD. The S6000fd gets all of the benefits of Fujifilm's Real Photo Technology with low noise images and an excellent lens. The camera performed very well in our review with excellent image quality, a nice lens and excellent battery life. That revolution has been such a wild success that the third-generation Reb, the XTi, arrives with 10.1MP, loads of high-end features, and an even lower price -- and still finds itself in a battle with four other manufacturers for that same piece of turf. We've never known Canon to back off from a fight, and this is no exception. The XTi ($800, street, black body only; $900 with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II EF-S lens) parts company with competitors in the 10MP class by using Canon's own CMOS sensor, rather than the Sony-manufactured CCD found in all the other 10-shooters. In the Pop Photo Lab, average resolution tested at a little over 2,100 lines (Excellent), besting the Sony Alpha 100 and coming in only slightly behind the pricier Nikon D80.

India donates photography equipment to Afghanistan

NEW DELHI: India has donated high resolution scanning and storage equipment to the government of Afghanistan. They veered off the highway near the Barnesville exit in Belmont County and ended up 165 feet below, in a ravine. Rescue crews were on the highway, looking down into a deep ravine where their two patients were in need of help. There were no high-tech tools to do the work -- it had to be old-fashioned brute strength. Rescuers lowered stokes baskets on ropes and then hauled the patients back up the hill, hand over hand with another five people below steadying the baskets. The accident actually occurred on the far side of the highway, and the pick-up truck apparently crossed the highway, airborne. The driver, Bernard Ganley of Keedysville, Md., was treated and released at Southeast Ohio Regional Hospital in Cambridge.

Fujifilm Finepix F30 Compact Digital Camera Review

Some cameras are better at coping with image noise than others, and all the main manufacturers claim to have made big improvements, but in truth only one manufacturer has made any real strides in this particular area and that is Fujifilm. Back in May I reviewed the Finepix F11, which was new at the time and offered a maximum ISO setting of 1600 and was actually usable at that setting, producing about the same noise levels as most other cameras do at 400 ISO. This week I’ve got the latest in the F series, the F30, which goes one stop further with a maximum ISO setting of 3200 and is the only compact camera on the market that can make that claim. The Finepix F30 is a stylish, efficient and easy-to-use compact camera with excellent picture quality, a useful range of features and outstanding performance, but even these qualities are overshadowed by its amazing low-light performance.

Camera on, conscience off

Aggravated assault, mischief endangering life and assault with a weapon: The Criminal Code definition for what a couple of local 15-year-olds got up to this week when their alleged "prank'' resulted in a teenage girl very nearly going up in flames. The chairman of the studios is Oscar-winning Lord Attenborough, who has a 7% stake in Dragon International. The city last month sent a request for bids to four private companies competing to install, operate and maintain detection systems that would photograph and ticket red-light runners. A fifth company has expressed interest since then, and the city extended the deadline after representatives from all five companies requested more planning time. Assistant City Manager Oscar Martinez said Friday a month-long test of each company's system could begin as planned on Oct. 1 despite the deadline extension. Featured in this exhibit are recent additions to the collection by emeriti professors Ellen Land-Weber and the late Tom Knight. The Reese Bullen Gallery, named in honor of a founding art department professor, was established in 1970. The gallery is located in HSU's art building directly across from the Van Duzer Theatre. The two new jewels in the Digital IXUS crown, the Digital IXUS 60 and Digital IXUS 65 continue the IXUS tradition of fusing cutting-edge technologies and superb build quality with compelling camera design. The only difference between them is the LCD screens: 2.5-inch on the Digital IXUS 60 and 3-inch on the Digital IXUS 65. The Digital IXUS 65 is compact and robust enough to carry around in shirt or trouser pocket, its a joy to use, and its image quality is among the best in its class - accurate colour reproduction, good exposure and the right auto focus makes it easy to take beautiful pictures. This is also helped by the cameras simple and pleasant to use operation.

Eagle Eye of Camera Costs Sprinter Group Glory

Jack Thompson, a former giant of the saddle, no doubt right up until the time he died, was convinced that he had won the 1948 Melbourne Cup, a race in which his mount Dark Marne was placed a half head second to the outsider Rimfire. Most would have given the race to Thompson's mount but the camera decided otherwise. On that occasion the new fangled photofinish may have got it wrong, a suggestion backed up by the angle of the camera being adjusted a short time afterwards. There could be no doubt, however, about the veracity of the cameras used in two decisions at the weekend which cost glory in two separates sports. One of them saw the video referee decide against a try for Parramatta in their rugby league final against Melbourne Storms and the other saw the race judges award the $201,000 Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick to Eremein over Newton's Rings after examining the photo finish.

Photography gets the right exposure

CONTEMPORARY photography, while missing out on the big auction hype used for paintings and antiques, has a strong collecting market in Australia. Much of the market is private, almost secretive in its dealings. In investment circles, though, photographs have long been a blue-chip item, arguably more sophisticated than the mainstream art market, eminently more affordable and with an international element making overseas trading accessible and profitable. As a fairly modern art form, photography still suffers a stigma perpetrated by people who believe that all art should be unique and man-made, and that photography is mass produced and machine-made. The idea that a photograph is comparable to a painting in artistic terms is not new. Way back in the 1840s, the new medium caused controversy by challenging drawing and painting as a way to record facts.

Fence Is Up, Cameras Installed by Friday

The fence is up at Notre Dame School in Caledonia. Thirdly, it has the largest battery of any digital camera, with 1900mAh of charge capacity. The Pro815 is what has become known as a bridge camera, a high-end digital camera with a non-interchangeable zoom lens, but offering features and image quality comparable to an SLR. ..The Samsung Pro815 is a truly superb camera, with superior build quality, outstanding design, a great range of versatile, creative and in some cases unique features, very good performance and outstanding picture quality. Despite the large screen, Sony's new model is small (95.0mm x 56.5 mm x 23.4mm) and weighs just 130g. It features a high sensitivity of ISO 1000 for better results indoors or in fading light, with Sony Clear RAW NR image processing reducing colour noise that can occur at high sensitivity settings. Add to that Super Steady Shot, which cuts down on the effects of shaking and you get the double anti-blur functionality - the combination of high sensitivity and anti-shake, which should mean clear, blur-free images. The proposal deadline is October 6. The Documentary Photography Project gives grants to photographers who partner up with news media organizations, NGOs, schools or other groups to publish documentary photography that works to stimulate constructive societal change. Interested applicants must submit proposals that address a current social justice issue, especially those that relate to OSI’s work. Projects must use innovative strategies to present the work to the public such as: Web sites, podcasts, or traveling exhibitions. OSI is a New York-based private foundation. All council members agreed to pursue an idea from state Del. G Glenn Oder, R-Newport News, in which the city could avoid the General Assembly's concern with the camera proposal by placing permission for the cameras in the city's charter. While the General Assembly would still need to approve the charter change, city officials hope the legislature's concerns in years past only related to the scope of the project and would permit Newport News to have its own camera program for major intersections. Newport News officials will now schedule a public hearing before they ask the General Assembly to amend the city's charter.

Kodak EasyShare Z650 Digital Camera Review

Kodak does a number of things very well indeed, and one of these is to make good, easy-to-use cameras at prices that anyone can afford. There arent many manufacturers that can beat it at this game. The Z650 is a 6.1 MP SLR-style camera with a powerful 10x Schneider Kreuznach Variogon lens. Its a nice looking camera too. It is quite large, with a big comfortable handgrip, a 2in LCD monitor and an electronic viewfinder. The Kodak EasyShare Z650 is something of a Curates egg. While it does have some fairly serious flaws, it does offer a lot of image quality and zoom power for a very low price. The slow performance, lousy video mode and limited range of features are a downside, but youd have to go a long way to find a better 10x zoom for under 160. The exclusive new apparel line, known simply as Estevan Oriol, is designed by Nike collaborator and former Fourstar clothing Art Director, Rob Abeyta Jr. And features some of Oriol's most famous photos, including a photo shot in 1995 featuring a girl throwing up "L.A." with her fingers and the highly-duplicated photo of the words "West Coast" tatted a woman's bare ass. Teaming up with Upper Playground, who carry everything from clothing and books to DVDs and artwork, was an opportunity for Oriol to expand his already successful Joker Brand line to a customer base they weren't currently reaching -- the sneakerheads and skaters, for example.

Critics of anti-crime cameras led by knee-jerk ideology

SAN FRANCISCO - Rarely has there been a clearer picture of San Francisco's maddening clash of ideology and reality than in the decision to place surveillance cameras in high-crime neighborhoods. Mayor Gavin Newsom announced last week that The City will install another 50 cameras in public housing projects around San Francisco as part of the attempt to reduce the surge in violence that recently saw five people killed on one day. The cameras have proved successful in helping police solve some crimes, including the apprehension of a man who shot a 13-year-old girl in the Western Addition earlier this year. But as with every policy decision in San Francisco, no good deed can go unpunished. Several public officials have decried the use of the security devices as an infringement on civil liberties — no matter how many criminals they help catch.

Samsung NV3 Digital Camera Review

The Samsung NV3 is one of three digital cameras in the new NV-series.
